If you have ever wished to capture a moment in time, to honour a special someone or preserve a precious memory, a custom artwork commission is just for you!
How the Commission Process Works
Pricing
Commissions are charged at a rate of $2.50 per square inch. The minimum size for a painting commission is 12” x 16”
Initial Consultation
We will begin with a discussion about your vision for the painting. During this consultation, we will choose a medium - oil, acrylic or pastel and a style that I work in, either with a knife or a brush - if paint, and decide on the size of the painting.
Draft and Approval
You will provide photos of the image you want painted, ensuring that the image is copyright-free. Another option is painting your portrait from life, which will require several hours of your time to sit. I will present a very rough draft for placement of your idea based on these photos. Once you are satisfied with the draft, I require a deposit of half the total cost.
Completion and Payment
The final payment is due once you are satisfied with the completed painting, within the parameters of my style. Please note, there will be extra charges for additional faces in the painting.
Drying and Varnishing
When using oil paint, there will be an extensive dry time, often a couple of months or more if the paint is applied thickly. Once the painting is dry, I will varnish it to protect the surface.
Shipping and Additional Costs
Shipping charges are extra. We can ship the canvas rolled up for you to have stretched, or we can ship it stretched. Framing is also available at an additional cost, if desired.
